Trenches were long, narrow ditches dug into the ground where soldiers lived.
They were very muddy, uncomfortable and the toilets overflowed. These conditions
caused some soldiers to develop medical problems such as trench foot In the middle

that Just because you weren’t in the battle fields didn’t mean you weren’t in the danger
zone. Back on the Home Front, Britain was under attack from all sides.
These enormous Zeppelin airships dropped bombs on ordinary people’s homes.
